As a distributor of wholesale shoes in domestic and international container sales, The Jay Group Ltd. always finds footwear news such as the following heartwarming.
Recently, it was reported that a six-year-old Milford girl is working to collect shoes to donate to Soles for Souls, a shoe charity Mercy Frase first saw online as she and her mother were browsing the Internet for ideas on how to collect shoes. With her goal set at 5,000 pairs, Mercy has collected 3,862 pairs of shoes as of July 18.
Mercy’s mother, Michele Frase, is scheduled to run a marathon in October for team World Vision; she and Mercy were searching for fundraising ideas to help dig water wells in third-world countries when they came upon Soles for Souls. Mercy and her sister, Marya, were adopted by the Frase’s who brought their girls home just 14 months ago. At that time, Mercy had a single pair of shoes, and Marya had none. Mercy’s adopted father Vernon said that when she said she wanted to help others who needed shoes, it blessed his heart.
Vernon says that several schools, groups, and organizations including their own church have stepped in to help Mercy after seeing a young girl who passionately wants to help others. Considering she has already collected more than 3,800 pairs of shoes, Mercy’s grandmother said she won’t be surprised if she exceeds her goal of 5,000 pairs.
