Whether you love to run for fitness, compete in marathons, or simply run for enjoyment on occasion, it can be hard to part with those running shoes you truly love. How do you know when it’s time to replace? As distributors of wholesale footwear around the globe, we have a few tips we think you’ll find useful.
Have you run 300 to 500 miles? If so, it’s time to replace your running shoes. Track your mileage, and if you run 25 miles per week total, your shoes should be replaced about every four months.
Having muscle fatigue or aches/pains? This could be a sign your shoes are wearing down. Pay attention to your feet and legs, and how they feel.
Take a close look at your running shoes. Set them on a counter or table, and look at them from the back (heel) end. If the soles seem to be leaning to the inside or outside, or look worn, it could be the midsole cushioning is wearing out.
Try twisting one of the shoes. If you can twist it easily, the midsole is likely worn out. New running shoes are difficult to twist; as they become worn, they twist more easily.
Are there creases and/or wrinkles in the midsole? Look in areas such as the ball of the foot or heel, areas where you put more of a “load” on the shoes. If the midsole is wrinkled or creased, it’s probably time to replace.
Try on the same model of running shoe you currently wear to see how it feels. If the cushioning in your current shoes feels flat compared to how the new shoe feels, it is likely worn out.
Replacing your running shoes is important, as wearing those that are worn out can result in injuries. The most trusted brands in running shoes provide shock absorption and stability, important for protecting legs and feet from injury.
